I first began training under Professor Michio Grubbs over a decade ago with no grappling experience whatsoever, several months after starting Muay Thai and wanting to become more well rounded. It wasn’t long before I discovered my passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and it became my primary focus.
Since then, I’ve grown leaps and bounds as a martial artist and as a person all while having fun and getting in the best shape of my life. It has challenged me both physically and mentally but it continues to be the most rewarding endeavor I’ve undertaken. Every time I step on the mat at Excel Jiu Jitsu MMA Oceanside, I know I’m going to learn something new in a supportive atmosphere and that I’ll be there to help all of my teammates do the same.
Currently, I’m a Black Belt in BJJ and pursuing a Masters Degree in college. I hope to compete more actively in the future, not only in Jiu Jitsu & grappling but Mixed Martial Arts as well. I try to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle and I’m also interested in weight lifting, yoga, running and anything else that will help to improve my performance.
If you are thinking about starting Jiu Jitsu, don’t wait any longer. Once you commit yourself to getting better every week, you will see differences not only in the Dojo, but outside the Dojo as well. Complacency is the enemy. Seek improvement.
