Working with children in the Kids BJJ classes at Excel Martial Arts Academy combines Dr. Beam’s two loves – Martial Arts and working with children, boys and girls of all ages..
Dr. Eric Beam first caught the martial arts bug as a youth, taking classes as a child in Kenpo Karate and Modern Arnis. Once he began training in Martial Arts, he knew that this is one pursuit that can be beneficial throughout one’s life.
He is also a school psychologist and school administrator.
He first became involved with Excel Jiu Jitsu, Martial Arts Academy, as a father researching programs for his children, but it was not long before he found himself on the mats himself. Dr. Beam loves training Jiu Jitsu for the benefits of exercise, the challenge presented, and the camaraderie.
Dr. Beam also competes in Jiu JItsu tournaments.
Being a big man competing in the ‘Unlimited Heavy Weight division‘ (meaning he goes against guys that can weigh more than 300 lbs +) he knows that for Jiu Jitsu to serve him, he would have to use everything that he learns in the group classes and lessons he learns as a student at Excel Jiu Jitsu, then use it as a competitor in Jiu Jitsu Tournaments,
Dr. Beam preaches strong work ethic along with being respectful to everyone that you meet. “Treat everyone how you would want to be treated”
All students love Dr. Beams’ insight’s. He is kind, Gentle but firm. He believes that Jiu Jitsu can help one grow exponentially in terms of contributing to society as an outstanding citizen.
Dr. Beam will continue his studies as a student at Excel Martial Arts Academy, as well as pass benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to everyone he meets.
