I started training BJJ with Professor Michio Grubbs about 13 years ago. Tried one class and I was hooked. I was doing it just for the workout at first but quickly grew a deep passion for it. I really enjoyed learning new things with every training session. Helping my Professor by teaching and coaching at Excel Jiu Jitsu MMA Oceanside, has also been helping my own Jiu-Jitsu game a lot.
I cherish the bonds of friendship and brotherhood that I have developed with my Jiu-Jitsu Family. Jiu-Jitsu has helped me grow as a person, on and off the mats. I don’t know where I would be without it. I am grateful for all the opportunities it has opened up for me.
I am currently under contract with Bellator MMA Fighting Championships. I can honestly say, I apply a lot of the concepts I have learned on the Jiu-Jitsu mat, in the Mixed Martial Arts Cage (with a little extra from a Boxing stand point).
I enjoy Jiu-Jitsu and all the hard work that comes with it. I look forward to find out how much more will be learned on my journey. If I had advice for the beginning practitioners, it would be; show up, listen, work hard, and most of all, HAVE FUN!!!
