Jiu Jitsu Workshop for Marines
Article written by Jerry Davila; Jiu Jitsu student Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Trainer
The Way of Martial Arts
My love for martial arts started in 2009.
Just a few short months ago I was able to expand that passion into Jiu-Jitsu, not only for myself, but for my family as well.
At Excel Jiu-Jitsu, that’s just what it is, a family. My name is Jerry Davila and I am a 2nd degree Martial Arts Instructor Trainer in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program.
This past Friday, July 7, 2017, under Professor Michio Grubbs, I was fortunate to take my MAI students to Excel Jiu-Jitsu Academy to experience the passion and the Art of Jiu-Jitsu first-hand.
Marines learn Jiu Jitsu
BJJ Coaches, Daniel Hasbrouck, Kenneth Molnar, Dwayne E. Mercer, and Laurynn Garcia welcomed us without hesitation and donated their time, experience, and knowledge to train, coach, and mentor my students like family, asking nothing in return.
Utilizing what we call a crawl, walk, and run approach, Coach Dan treated everyone with the same respect and compassion.
For half the afternoon they gave an amazing class over escapes and counters.
The students gained a lot of information and were able to apply that in their sessions.
The coaches did an amazing job and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to call home to take my Marine family to learn the Art of Jiu-Jitsu.
