Vargas Family Jiu Jitsu
Jiu Jitsu Family training
Excel Jiu Jitsu is more than just a gym that teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts, it is a family.
As a military wife who’s husband is deployed frequently Excel Jiu JItsu provides a stable family friendly, atmosphere for my three children to train and focus.
They are able to immerse themselves in their training and concentrate on learning the art of Jiu Jitsu which has helped them cope with the sadness of their father not being home.
I accidently discovered Excel Jiu Jitsu Academy while searching for an after school sport for my son to do. My two daughters were doing dancing, and gymnastics at the time but quickly decided to quit them to join their little brother at Excel Jiu Jitsu. We have been coming here for a year now and I have seen a huge change in my children’s confidence and their attitudes. They have become extremely dedicated to the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have learned the appreciation of hard work. As a parent, these skills transcend the mat and gym and are life long skills that are vital to their success in the future.
They are becoming better people because of the lessons they have learned at Excel. From the importance of protecting yourself and your teammates to taking a stand against bullying Excel Jiu Jitsu teaches it all and successfully ties it in with the art of Jiu Jitsu. My children firmly believe that they can never be a good martial artist if they are not good people.
Professor Michio Grubbs has successfully created a professional learning environment built on mutual respect and hard work and each one of his coaches reflect his values. He instills in each one of his students a sense of responsibility to take care of one another. His humble demeanor and dedication to bring out the best in each one of his students is readily evident which is extremely calming to an over protective parent like myself.
Jiu Jitsu for the whole family
When my husband returned from his most recent deployment he was amazed on how much our kids had learned and how excited they were to share with him their new passion. My husband was so impressed that he recently began to train BJJ at Excel.

I can’t say enough about how much me and my family love Excel. You will not find a teacher that is as calm, caring, and compassionate as Professor Michio. Everyday my kids come home from school excited to finish their homework, clean their rooms and go train at Excel Jiu Jitsu.

We had the honor of being invited to the Relief and Appointment ceremony of Sergeant Major Rafael C. Vargas on Camp Pendleton on July 20, 2017.
We were able to witness a very proud moment and a life long memory for the Vargas Family.
