“A goal without a plan is just a wish”
When teaching children, our main goal is to shape the mindset of improvement, always strive to do better. Never let set-backs deter us from our goals.
We teach the S.M.A.R.T. goal setting system for students to create timelines that help accelerate action. We teach to act now, take action, make a push. To make a push to make things happen (to make a ‘push’, we mean, to do the extras to help get to the next level).
We have each child do a self-assessment to see where their starting points are at. Then we have them think about what they would like to happen in their lives. Then we put milestones and deadlines on paper to help create a sense of urgency and get the ball rolling. We teach students that planning, creating the steps to manifest desired goals, and to take massive action is the way to get dreams to come true.
Once the goal is achieved, there are more goals to conquer. We then get started right away at hitting the next goal.
Goal Setting is a big part of our system. We teach students to think about what they would like to achieve. Create a plan to make this happen. Then do our best to make this happen.
Step one: We had kids thinking about what they want and desire. We had the kids put some thought into what gets them excited. Dream Big.
Step two: we worked with the kids on creating a plan with actions steps that can make this possible in the future. We talked about consistency, dedication, and work ethic. Be action oriented and work hard for what you want.
It was great seeing the boys and girls get pumped about talking about things that make them feel good. Some of the kids want to be doctors, others want to be singers. Some of the kids said they just want to be good people.
Goal Setting is a science that takes many years to master but it always starts with the first step; exposure to the goal setting system. Goal setting can be an invaluable tool that can help people to pursue their dreams and follow their passion.
Teamwork makes the dream work
We also work on team building concepts. We can do a lot on our own. But having a great team to support, cheer, and even help with some of the workload, we can accomplish even more.
We teach that to help others, we are contributing to the team growing stronger and our community becoming greater. By setting the good example, by being a good role-model to inspire others to do their best. We work through various team building concepts.
Leadership starts with a thought. The thought to inspire others to do better.
We take kids through a series of leadership values and inspirational ideas that can help spark creativity in each of the student’s minds.
We want to make sure each student is aware of their own personal values and beliefs and how to expand and grow those ideas into something great for everyone.
